Founded in 1995, Xtreme Games LLC is one of the more unique experiments in the gaming development and marketing industries. Xtreme assists up-and-coming game developers in publishing and distributing their games with a 50/50 royalty split; they also offer some of these developers access to 2D/3D engine technology, AI code, XtremeComponents (DirectX add-on's), tools, and programming tricks. Xtreme Games LLC currently enjoys the position of being the world's largest developer of "value" software consisting of over 400+ game developers around the world. Xtreme develops games for IDG, eGames Inc., Expert Software, Activision, ValuSoft, Simon & Schuster Interactive, along with many other distributors and publishers.

Additionally, Xtreme has founded the the XGDC (Xtreme Games Developers Conference) which is a next generation game developers conference held each year with the stated purpose of sharing knowledge and ideas rather than generating income. "RESURRECTION 2000", this year's XGDC, will be held at the Santa Clara Convention Center September 30th and October 1st. The conference is open to the public and targeted to all levels of game developer from the newbie to seasoned professional. The XGDC is a technical conference lecture series, no marketing, no business, no exposition, just hard core game programming, techniques, and tricks to advance the art and share knowledge. "RESURRECTION 2000" is September 30th and October 1st, 2000.

Xtreme Games LLC was incorporated in California as a "Limited Liability Company", sharing the liability features of a C-type corporation and the tax benefits of an S-type corporation. Xtreme Games is located in San Jose, CA and does business as a "Virtual Corporation", meaning that Xtreme Games is composed of a number of employees from Canada to Florida via internet. They make the claim that everyone at Xtreme Games LLC is a game programmer or artist. "We admit that we have lawyers and accountants, but we don't let them in the building!" says Xtreme Games founder and CEO Andre' LaMothe.

LaMothe has run all business operations, negotiations, and created all the 3D technology up to this point for Xtreme Games LLC. He holds degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering. Mr. LaMothe has been in the computing industry for over 23 years and has worked in 2D/3D graphics, Artificial Intelligence at NASA, Compiler Design, Robotics Engineering, Virtual Reality, Telecommunications, and in numerous consulting positions for Silicon Valley companies. He is also the creator of one of the world's first commercially available Virtual Reality game, "CyberGate". Mr. LaMothe has published numerous magazine articles and is an international best selling author with over eight titles to his credit, six of which are on the topic of game programming and 3D graphics.

Earlier this year Hasbro Interactive, a subsidiary of Hasbro Inc. brought suit against a number of small video game developers including Xtreme Games LLC, eGames Inc., GT Interactive , Web Foot Technologies, MVP Games, and Varcon Systems for copyright and trademark infringement on a number of 20-year-old Atari Inc. Games and Tetris. Hasbro bought Atari recently, and in doing so acquired old video game copyrights such as Centipede, Asteroids, Dig Dug, and so forth in addition to acquiring the licenses to Frogger, Tetris, and others.

We recently spoke with Mr. LaMothe regarding the lawsuit, Xtreme Games, and the "RESURRECTION 2000" conference.
