MIAMI--Sept.
23, 1999--MasTec, Inc. (NYSE:MTZ) announced today that Olaf Olafsson,
president of Advanta Corporation, has been elected to MasTec's Board of
Directors.
Mr. Olafsson is president of Advanta, a financial services company with $22 billion in assets under management and 2,400 employees. Mr. Olafsson is also a member of the Board of Directors of Scholastic Corp. (NASDAQ:SCHL), a global children's publishing and media company. Previously, Mr. Olafsson was the founder and president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Inc., an interactive entertainment software and hardware unit of Sony Corporation with operations in the United States and Europe. While at Sony Interactive, he was responsible for the development of the much-acclaimed Playstation.
