Adobe Photoshop 7 Style Layer Effects: Series #11
In series 11 of my Adobe Photoshop 7 Style Layer tutorials, I have created 2 more effects that you can implement into your Style Layers palette to give your designs or text elements a new look quick and easy. The effects are named “HULK” and “Grape Jelly.” Detailed instructions have been added to help the user install and implement the Style Layers into their next Photoshop project. In the first example, the phrase “HULK” was created using the Hulkbusters font and the Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss (Contour only), Satin, Color Overlay and Gradient Overlay. The Inner Glow provides the object with a nice reflective surface that defines the object’s boundaries. Satin and the Gradient Overlay is what provides the dark ominous tone to the object. Satin is set to Linear Light, 18% Opacity, 19 degree angle, 3 pixel offset distance, effect size set to 38 pixels with the contour set to Ring – Triple and inverted. The Color Overlay blend mode is set to Linear Light with 62% Opacity. The last setting is the Gradient Overlay which is 100% Opacity, Linear gradient with a –90 degree angle and a 82% gradation.

Style effect #2:
In the second example, the phrase “Grape Jelly” is created using the Soopafresh font and the Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Outer Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss, Satin, Color Overlay and Stroke. The Bevel and Emboss brings out the most details in the effect (after you download and install the Style Layer, try turning it off and you’ll see a remarkable difference). The Satin setting gives the effect most of its color and Inner Shadow set to 75% Opacity and 84 degree light angle provides most of the details in the design.
To install the Style Layer effects into Adobe Photoshop (for Windows version although Mac version will be similar in location), you need to do the following steps:
