Adobe Photoshop 7 Style Layer Effects: Series #8
To help you apply stunningly beautiful effects to your text or objects

In series 8 of my Adobe Photoshop 7 Style Layer tutorials, I have created 2 more effects that you can implement into your Style Layers palette to give your designs or text elements a new look quick and easy. The two effects are named “Quicksilver” and “Spiderman.” These Style Layers will work well with either objects or text as the examples display. Detailed instructions have been added to help the user install and implement the Style Layers into their next Photoshop project. Let's get started!

Style effect #1:
In the first example, the phrase “Quicksilver” is created using a variety of different settings in the Style Layer palette. Using the ITC Anna font, the Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Bevel and Emboss (Contour), Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options were used to create the overall effect. The design has a bit of a metallic look with the Drop Shadow and Stroke used to provide the greenish “shine” on the edges of the object. Of course, you can change the color of the design to fit your project by adjusting the Drop Shadow, Outer Glow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke. So if you’re looking at applying a nice, subtle “metallic” effect to your next project. This Style Layer should provide you with a good option.

Style effect #2:
In the second example, the phrase “Spiderman” is created using the Homoarakhn font and the Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss (Contour), Gradient Overlay and Stroke effects. As you can see in the example below, the gradient doesn’t blend as smoothly as Quicksilver’s as you see it stretch into the rest of the object. This effect came out better than expected but that’s the real fun in making these Style Layers. You can just be fiddling around with the controls and come up with something really great or you take a preset and modify it to suit your needs. Either way, you still end up with a preset that will speed up your creative process and that’s always a good thing.
