Our next base is a very useful one -- a star field. With a few easy steps, you can create some really nice stars for your sky. Start with an 800´800 image.

1. Create a new layer and fill it with black. Now add some noise; this change will be the stars. Choose Noise|Add Noise. Settings: Amount 40, Gaussian, and Monochromatic. Figure 2.35. Click for larger image.
3. Again, choose Image|Adjust|Brightness/Contrast. Settings: Contrast +50. You should see the stars pop out as in Figure 2.35.

4. You can repeat Step 3 if you would like fewer, bigger, or brighter stars.
